Under a new leadership team, led by Paul Warwick, Aberdeen based Whalsay Energy has secured committed funding and recently been awarded a four year extension to Licence P.1078, to pursue a strategy to actively seek an operator and partners to develop and operate the Bentley field in Quad 9 of the UKCS.
“This is a very positive outcome for Whalsay Energy. Together, a four year Licence and sufficient capital to undertake our work programme, provide the stability for the company to establish the technical and commercial requirements to develop the Bentley field within a realistic time horizon for us to attract suitable partners and a field operator, enabling delivery of a Bentley field development plan.
Quad 9 is becoming an increasingly important area for the UKCS; the discovered hydrocarbons at Bentley create a material opportunity for the industry to participate in the further development of this region.
We have much work to do and the team is focused on delivering the company’s strategy which is fully aligned with MER UK”
